Waiting for a Kiss, Sunflower Dream & Missing you

I have somehow forgotten to update this blog :O Here they are, my three latest socks, from left to right: Waiting for a Kiss, Sunflower Dream & Missing you
I have used Gjestal Maija yarn in all of these socks. Maija is my favorite in stranded knitting, it's just not too thick or either too thin. All these socks can be found in my Ravelry store :)

Meadow Fairies & Flying on the Air

I have been knitting lots of flying fairies and flowers this spring. I have previously presented my Meadow flowers socks here. Meadow fairies & Flying on the Air socks are partly the same, yet the theme and feeling is totally different. Let's begin with the Meadow fairies, because that's the sock I had in my mind in March and I did not have any intention to knit any other versions of that, but finally I knitted 5 different socks :)
I knitted the first version on Meadow fairies of Novita Nalle yarns: Nalle, Nalle Garden and Nalle Taika. I was very pleased with the colors, but not pleased with the figures, so I had to knit another pair and this time I used Gjestal Maija. Now I was happy with the figures, but not pleased with the colors: Fairy color was wrong, lighter color would work better here. Sometimes it's like this. So the perfect combination would be to knit the final pattern from the Nalle colors or at least use light color for the fairies. The final sock is on the left and the proto version on the right.
Flying on the Air was so fun to knit that I almost missed the funny fairies after knitted the last ones. Yarns are Novita Nalle and yes, I do like, what I have done.

Meadow flowers

In May, when sun was brighter than previously, I woke up and got some images of flowers into my head. So I draw some flowers to excel and knitted colorful flower socks.
Mid-calf socks have been knitted from Novita Nalle yarns.
Socks were fun to knit, one flower row took only 3 g of yarn, so waste yarns can be easily used for these socks.
Sock begins with the lace part and holes for the braid.
Socks are fitting well at least on my own 38 size feet.
Leg is 20 cm long and 12,5-13 cm wide on the top and 11 cm at the ankle. Foot is  23,5 cm long ja 10 cm wide.
But, but... when adult socks were ready, I wanted to knit similar to a baby.
Socks are made for a baby of age 0-6 months.
Leg is 10-11 cm long and 8 cm wide on the top and 6-7 cm at the ankle. Foot is 9,5 cm long and 6,5 cm wide.

Pattern: Meadow flowers, sizes 37/38 and 0-6 months, pattern in Ravelry
Yarn: Novita Nalle. Main color 348 and for flowers: 853, 523, 813, 857, white, 894, green, 830, 820, 865, 866, 742, 785.
Needles: KnitPro Zing 3
Yarn (g): For the adult socks: 70 g of main color and 36 g for flowers. For the baby socks: 22 g of main color and 6 g for flowers.

Something about me and this blog

Hi,

My name is Marja and I'm living in the Northern Finland. I have been keen in knitting as long as I can remember, but nowadays this is like a disease, which can not be cured: I have to knit when ever it's possible. I'm sure, I'm not the only one like this :)

I have been keeping a blog of all of my socks, mittens, hats, blankets etc. which I have knitted since April 2014. Blog's name is Vanuttunut Villasukka and I'm writing there in Finnish. I have no plan to quit my first blog, Vanuttunut Villasukka will continue for sure. But I wanted to have a new blog for my own knitting designs only and da-daa, this it is! I will write here in bad English and introduce my own designs :)

I usually have many ideas of socks or mittens, which I would like to create, but it sometimes takes a long time to get them finished. And some of my ideas will probably never become socks or mittens. The problem is the limited time I have for this hobby. But something comes out every now and then and those will be visible here. And of course in my other blog as well, in Finnish.

My designs have been (so far) mainly stranded socks or mittens, I love stranded knitting. I draw my designs on my own in excel, I don't borrow anything from some one else's designs. I hope you respect my work as well. And enjoy my socks and mittens and what ever is coming out in the future.

Marja :)
